How Do You Choose A Absorbent? N/A N/A These absorbents are being used in a traffic area - choose a tough absorbent like BattleMat™ or one of our High Traffic rolls to get durability and high absorbency. Looking for something even tougher? Try one of our industrial rugs like SIR™.

Too much absorbent for the application. Save some money by choosing a medium or lightweight pad like the MRO300 or GP200.

Not Enough Absorbent! Consider a heavyweight pad to increase performance and cut down on the number of lighter pads you go through everyday. Start with MRO100 - it's our number one selling product for a reason!

This pad isn't standing up to the wear and tear of this application. Try one of our extra tough absorbents that feature spunbond on both sides of the pad or roll. UXT and SXT are ideal for wipe down applications. If the application is floor based, consider one of our high traffic products.

Looks like this absorbent is containing a leak - consider using a SOC for containing leaky equipment. SPC offers a variety of SOCs to meet your needs.

Having the right absorbent for the job makes a big difference. Proper product selection will cut down on employee frustration and make their job easier, create a safer work environment, and even save you money! And once you have all the right absorbents, where are you going to keep them? Have I mentioned the Absorbent Center yet? Check out mobile and modular storage cabinet for absorbents.

Still Using Clay? N/A N/A There is a negative financial impact of using clay to clean up your leaks, drips and spills. It may be cheaper to buy, but the benefits stop there. For example…let's say over the period of a month you clean up 40 gallons or just over a gallon a day. Here are the facts (This is a basic analysis using estimations and averages. Individual situations may vary. Contact your RSM to do a more in-depth and customized analysis of your costs.) :
  • 40 gallons spilled = 10 bags of clay or 1.5 bales of SPC pads.
  • 10 bags of clay cost roughly $50 and 1.5 bales of pads costs around $90.
  • After you clean up a spill, clay takes up two to three times as many 55-gallon disposal drums than the pads do.
  • Let's estimate the disposal costs at $350 per drum - making your final cost of using clay easily double the cost of using SPC absorbents.
Still not convinced… consider these points:
  • OSHA considers silica a serious health hazard.
  • Granular clean up is difficult and labor intensive.
  • The small particles can easily enter and damage machinery or your finished product.
  • Clay has limited chemical resistance.
